CoolSculpting Q & A
How does coolsculpting work?
Many people have stubborn fat that refuses to go away despite diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is the only fat reduction treatment cleared by the FDA that is used to safely target and eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat via controlled cooling. CoolSculpting technology targets fat and kills only those fat cells. In the weeks that follow the procedure, the body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells.
Is CoolSculpting a long-term solution to stubborn fat?
Yes, CoolSculpting is a long-term solution to eliminate fat. This is because the fat cells that are frozen during the process gradually die off, leaving the body through a natural elimination process, slowly but surely revealing a more shapely you.
What is the actual procedure like?
It is different for everyone. Before undergoing the procedure, Dr. Nazam develops a customized CoolSculpting treatment plan with his patient in order to address problem areas to be corrected. Additional sessions may also further enhance your results.
During treatment, Dr. Nazam applies a gel pad and applicator to the targeted area. The CoolSculpting applicator then delivers controlled cooling to the targeted fat. Patients often report experiencing the feeling that their skin or fat is being pulled and sometimes pinched. A sensation of intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping at the treatment site is also common. These sensations subside as the area becomes numb, however, and are generally not felt at all after the procedure first begins. Patients generally read, check email, and complete other sedentary tasks during the procedure.
Is there downtime after the procedure?
There is little to no downtown for CoolSculpting. Because CoolSculpting is entirely nonsurgical and results become clearer with time, patients do not need to allow for time off from their everyday lives in order to attain CoolSculpting. Patients may experience some side effects after the treatment, however, including:
- Temporary redness
- Swelling
- Blanching
- Bruising
- Firmness
- Tingling
- Stinging
- Tenderness
- Cramping
- Aching,
- Itching
- Skin sensitivity
Though rare, it is possible to experience some additional side effects after CoolSculpting. Ultimately, Dr. Nazam ill decides if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting.
